The Secure Remote Control (SERC) is used to display and analyze data from controllers and field buses as well as to change data from remote via app or computer.
The service supports various protocols. In addition to processing data via MQTT, Lora, Modbus, etc., it has been also possible to read KNX group addresses into the HOOC platform via the KNX IP interface. Hitherto, the transmission has only been carried out in an unencrypted form.
In order to meet the ever-increasing requirements in the area of IT security, the KNX Association has expanded the KNX protocol to include the option of KNX Secure, which comprises the two sub-functions KNX Data Secure and KNX IP Secure. As a consequence, it is possible to conduct communication on the KNX bus and between KNX IP end devices in an encrypted form.
In order to use the encrypted data also by the HOOC SERC and Alert service, we have now extended the KNX protocol in the HOOC ManagementPortal so that a connection via KNX Secure is also possible. As a result, projects can now be implemented where data transmission from the cloud to the KNX end device can be encrypted.
If you want to write to ‘Secure group addresses’ (KNX Data Secure) with KNX Secure, the corresponding links of the group addresses to the tunneling interface used must be configured in the ETS.
