Over time, HOOC gateways have evolved to support a range of functions tailored to their hardware types (find detailed information here: https://docs.hooc.me/en/hooc-gateways/connect-os/v7). From the Connect H to the Connect XT, each gateway model has been equipped with its own dedicated version of ConnectOS.
The hardware-specific functions remain unchanged and continue to be available. However, the ConnectOS has now been unified across all HOOC gateways and enhanced with the following new features.
1. Tools
1.1 NTP relay
The NTP relay allows NTP requests to be forwarded to an external NTP server pool. The functionality is available from the LAN network group. For the end devices in the LAN network group, one of the LAN IP addresses can be used as the NTP server.
1.2 SMTP relay
The SMTP relay allows e-mails to be forwarded to an external SMTP server. The functionality is available from the LAN network group. For the end devices in the LAN network group, one of the LAN IP addresses must be used as the SMTP server and port 25/TCP. E-mails may be a maximum of 5 MB in size.
2. Network
2.1 Isolated network groups
The isolated network groups allow the physical network ports 3 - 4 to be isolated from the LAN network group. This function can be used, for example, to:
- Realize a dedicated communication between end devices from the LAN network and the isolated network groups on layer 3.
- Extension of the 2 additional fully isolated Layer 2 networks using the CrossLink service with only one HOOC Connect Gateway
2.2 Virtual network group
The virtual network group can be used to network end devices from the LAN network with several HOOC gateways using the CrossLink link on Layer 3. In this way, higher-level networking to end devices can also be realized (system networking 2.0, so to speak).
Please note that with the new HOOC ConnectOS, we have also introduced a firmware upgrade, which you can start directly from the HOOC Cloud. For more details, see New Features - Firmware Upgrade.
The standardization of ConnectOS across all HOOC gateways enhances sustainability by ensuring greater consistency and improved security. As a result, future functional upgrades to ConnectOS will be automatically available for all HOOC gateways. Additionally, firmware updates can now be conveniently managed via the HOOC ManagementPortal.
